DanceArt Hong Kong

Formed in 1993 by a group of professional dance artists, DanceArt Hong Kong is one of the most prominent professional modern dance companies in Hong Kong. Key members including Francis Leung and Andy Wong are the major creative force of the company. With professional training in different dance streams, as well as extensive stage experiences, they share the objective of promoting dance appreciation and developing the company into a versatile dance group.



The artistic directions of the company include:
1. To express concerns about social issues and minority groups through dance versatile dance group.


2. To encourage collaborations between dance and other art forms and develop multi-media contemporary art presentations.;
 


The company has been actively involved in dance education and voluntary services through organizing outreach performances, school touring programmes,dance workshops, dance classes and participating in events organized by social welfare organizations. These include Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, Helping Hand, HK AIDS Foundation and St. James¡¦ Settlement. The company has also worked with Kwai Chung Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and dance clubs of local universities. It was the resident dance company of Fringe Club, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Sha Tin Town Hall, Teen AIDS and d@ir scheme of Hong Kong Arts Centre. Recent projects include Yuen Long Theatre Programme

DanceArt has been a one-year grant recipient of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for three consecutive years since 2000. The Company has toured to Taiwan, Germany and the United States to participate in arts festivals to give performances and workshops.
