The renowned Taiwan choreographer Zhang Xiao-xiong introduces the ephemeral effects of light and shadow of photography into the fluidity of moving forms in a probing search of the black hole called ‘desire? hidden between the virtual and actual light years.  Andy Wong, Francis Leung and Yvette Huang, the three core members of DanceArt, together with outstanding dancers from Hong Kong and Taiwan, will be presenting a dance showcase of interlocking snippets made up of memories, lust and love.

Choreographer Zhang Xiao-Xiong

Zhang Xiao-Xiong was born in Cambodia and went to the Mainland to study as a young man, graduating from the Jinan University with a degree in History.

 

He immigrated to Australia in 1983.  A graduate of the Centre for Performing Arts, Adelaide, he was a principal dancer with One Extra Dance Company in Sydney, the Australian Dance Theatre and the Vis-a-Vis Dance in Canberra.  He toured with these companies and performed all over Australia, in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. He was named the Best Male Dancer in Australia in 1989.  In recent years, he has been active as a dance instructor and choreographer shuttling between Australia, the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
